Oliver Consulting Services began after retirement from I.B.M. completing 31 years of dedicated service in June of 2005. I began consulting to share my vast amount of experience obtained during my years of service at I.B.M..
Over the 31years at IBM I held many jobs in Production Control and Product Planning eventually ending up in the Programming and Database Design and development fields. I began as a self taught programmer using these skills to help automate difficult aspects of the Production Control jobs. One job “Top Input Analyst” required me to take all product plans, convert them to product component structures (or machine level bills of material) and explode the build requirements to all products being built at the IBM Boca Raton, Florida manufacturing site. My new programming skills allowed me to create new planning tools and processes reducing the inventory on hand by 2.1 million dollars per year. This was the predecessor to the “Just in time” practices of today.
Due to manufacturing consolidation at IBM all work was moved to either North Carolina or Minnesota and I chose to remain as far South as possible. I made Georgetown Texas my home and began database design and deployment work at IBM Austin in 1996.
While at IBM Austin, I designed and deployed many databases within the World Wide Customized Solutions (W.W.C.S.) division of I.B.M.. These databases implemented easy to use interfaces for all business practices such as bid\quote submission, order processing, receipt tracking, inventory control and auditing. I was also responsible for all ISO 9000 compliance audits within the W.W.C.S. organization. Insuring that desk top procedures current and good business processes were implemented and in force for all business areas.
Since O.C.S. began in 2005 I have created these same user friendly databases for a large local counter top manufacturer, and a large home owner association management firm. Providing custom solutions for Service Order Processing, Purchase Order Processing, Inventory Control Processes, Billing Processes . Revenue Reporting, Customer Tracking and Notifications.
There is virtually no business that will not benefit in some way from services provided by O.C.S..
In addition to my small business consulting and database design work I began helping small business owners in the design and deployment of their company web pages. I provide one on one training so the company can build and deploy their own web site pages with little or no outside programming effort using easy to use Web Site Designer tools. In these tough economic times, this method is the most inexpensive and long term efficient way to deploy and publish their ever changing business offerings.
